On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, an informational and awareness meeting was held in Errachidia for merchants and business owners on the topic “Centralized Service for Dishonored Checks“, organized by Bank Al-Maghrib – Drâa-Tafilalet branch, in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of the Drâa-Tafilalet Region, the regional branch of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises, with the participation of the Check Info institution.

The meeting brought together several participants from national and regional institutions, including:

  • Mr. Abdelrafii Rahhioui, Director of Bank Al-Maghrib in Ouarzazate,
  • Mr. Sidi Mohamed Abouchikhi, Chairman of the Board of Check Info,
  • Mr. Alaa Bouirman, IT Systems Manager at Check Info,
  • Mr. Abdelhamid El Maazouzi, Deputy Director of the Currency and Credit Department and Field Operations at Bank Al-Maghrib,
  • Ms. Islam El Abid, Regional Director of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises – Drâa-Tafilalet Region,
  • Mr. Said Chicha, Chair of the Committee for Training and Promotion of SMEs and Women’s Entrepreneurship at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services.

The meeting was also attended by the staff and officials of the Chamber’s Errachidia office, as well as several representatives of economic actors in the region, totaling 51 participants.

In his opening speech, the Chamber representative emphasized the importance of the meeting in raising awareness among participants about the check verification service, which is part of Bank Al-Maghrib’s efforts to strengthen the business environment and combat illegal use of checks.

For his part, the Director of Bank Al-Maghrib in Ouarzazate explained that this initiative aims to provide economic actors with legal and commercial protection tools ensuring transaction transparency, expressing gratitude to the Chamber for its contribution to the success of the initiative.

The Deputy Director of the Currency and Credit Department at Bank Al-Maghrib presented the legal and technical framework supporting the service, highlighting the new roles assigned to Check Info to enable rapid and effective verification of the validity of presented checks.

Check Info, represented by its Chairman, also delivered a detailed presentation on the functioning of the service, noting that it relies on a database updated daily in cooperation with banks, covering various cases from account closures to forged or reported stolen checks.

The meeting featured an interactive discussion between the speakers and participants, emphasizing the importance of personal data protection under Law No. 09-08, and the need to generalize this service to ensure stability of commercial transactions and strengthen confidence in check payments.
